Student Testimonials
What do Barrydowne College Graduates have to say?
“Barrydowne College gave me a school experience unlike any other. I can confidently say that I have so many good memories that I made with my teachers that will live on with me for a long time. I overcame so many things at Barrydowne College… As an immigrant I always struggled with feeling like I belonged, and Barrydowne is the only place so far that has allowed me to be myself and embraced me with open arms. As a student, I never thought I was even remotely capable of the Academic achievements I have made at Barrydowne; sometimes things were easy and sometimes they weren’t but both times my teachers were there for me. As a human, I learned many values at Barrydowne; kindness, humility, commitment, honesty, positivity and more through the uplifting environment that is Barrydowne College. It was an honor and a privilege to be a part of this school and that is something I will never take for granted.” N.O. 2021 Valedictorian
“…Thank you for working with me through this, and helping me finish my OSSD. I can’t fully explain how grateful I am to [my teachers] and Barrydowne College – to have come to this point, where I can see a future that I want for myself.” L.K.
“… I have been accepted into the Powerline Technician program at Cambrian with a September 2020 start date. I am absolutely thrilled as this has always been my career goal. I want to thank my teachers and the entire staff at Barrydowne College for investing their time in me and helping me to achieve the benchmark requirements for this limited enrollment program. My teachers were always available to answer my questions and had a lot of patience working with me. I am very grateful for the experience I had and will highly recommend Barrydowne College in the future. Also, I am very proud to let you know that I have been awarded the Cambrian Academic Excellence Scholarship in the amount of $1000…” (L. J. January 2020 Graduate)
“What works for me about Barrydowne College is that it has given me the opportunity to come back to school after having a child. To obtain my OSSD without getting stressed out, or having to worry about having things done by a specific date. It is a very welcoming and friendly environment with a very understanding and helpful staff.” C.B.
“I’m grateful to have been a part of the Barrydowne College family. It will always be the place where I had the best memories… You always believed in me and it made me believe in myself. Thank you again.” N.O.
“Barrydowne College’s option for [blended learning] was amazing! I was able to work most days and still able to do school work …, therefore never falling behind. The teachers make sure they’re available and are extremely helpful. They made me love learning again! I went from a struggling student to an A student and I have Barrydowne College to thank!” (Participant in the Co-op Program, Student at Laurentian University)
“The staff was very welcoming, and made me believe in myself again. They helped set goals with me, pushed me to keep going and supported me the whole way. When you achieve a goal they are celebrating it right along with you. Some of the staff go above and beyond what is required of them. If you’re going through a rough time they sit and listen, and will try to come up with a solution to your problem with you. Barrydowne College gave me a second chance to get my diploma. Thank you for not giving up on me.” (Mother of two children)
“Barrydowne goes above and beyond to ensure your education. They find the personal routes to your problems whether that may be educational or things going on at home. No food at home, they have snacks made for you. No hygiene products, you’re embarrassed to go to school because of it, they will help. I was pregnant with my daughter, about to graduate when I had her, she was three days old when I brought her to school… No other school will give you the love and attention you truly need. No other school will surpass your needs and then some, to make sure you graduate. No other school will make you feel like a family.” (Mother of one child)
